SAN ANTONIO — With early voting fully underway for the May 3rd San Antonio municipal election, Rolando Pablos issued a response to a video attack ad from the Bexar County Democratic Party on his candidacy—an unprecedented move in a non-partisan mayoral election that demonstrates the desperation of the San Antonio political establishment to protect its control over City Hall:
“Instead of focusing on the issues that matter to San Antonians, the entrenched political insiders who have mismanaged our City for years are making a desperate last-ditch attempt to cling to power. The San Antonio political machine is nervous, and the latest misguided attack attempting to misinform voters about my record is case in point.
“This is not leadership—this is pure fear-mongering, and San Antonio voters know better. They are tired of the same broken city politics and partisan games, which is the main reason why my campaign is gaining momentum among San Antonio voters.
“I’m proud of my record as Texas Secretary of State, particularly my work to help more young Texans register to vote when they turn 18, during which I recruited hundreds of educators across the state to promote voting and civic engagement among the next generation of Texas voters.
“Ultimately, this campaign is not about left or right—it’s about getting things done and delivering results—safer streets, better infrastructure, a more affordable city for working families, and an abrupt end to the systemic poverty that has plagued San Antonio for decades.
“This flailing attack makes clear that the San Antonio political class is panicking and using the Bexar County Democratic party to try to undermine my candidacy, as they are terrified that I will finally bring accountability and sanity to City Hall as mayor.
“This race must not be about ideology and protecting power. It must be about the good people of San Antonio deserving more than what they have gotten for decades.
“Thankfully, good change is coming, and I urge all eligible San Antonio voters to head to the polls during early voting and make your voices heard as we work to bring good change to City Hall!”
