Same poll clearly shows former Councilman Clayton Perry’s candidacy fading

SAN ANTONIO — A new poll released today by the University of Texas at San Antonio’s Center for Public Opinion Research showed voter support for Rolando Pablos surging ahead of the May 3rd Mayoral Election, with Rolando witnessing the largest increase in support of any mayoral candidate since the last poll was released in February. After the poll’s release, Rolando issued the following statement on the growing momentum behind his candidacy:

“San Antonians are hungry for change, and real change is coming! Despite a large field of 27 mayoral candidates, it is becoming crystal clear that I am the only true fiscal conservative in the race who is willing to reverse years of mismanagement, irresponsibility, and misplaced priorities by entrenched City Hall insiders and establishment politicians who have simply failed to produce results for San Antonio.

“With the start of early voting approaching next week, now is the time to unite and ensure we seize the opportunity to ensure San Antonio can maximize its potential as a city that prioritizes economic growth and public safety while eradicating the systemic poverty that has plagued our community for decades. As voters continue to learn more, they are increasingly recognizing our vision as the best path forward for the Alamo City.”

After the poll’s release, Rolando issued a direct call to former City Councilman Clayton Perry, whose campaign has remained stagnant since February, to exit the race and ensure unity among fiscal conservatives who need to defeat the entrenched establishment politicians who would only advance more misguided and reckless policies at the expense of San Antonians:

Clayton Perry means well, but his stagnation in the polls and his inability to raise funds because of his checkered past means that he is not a viable candidate. We must consolidate support for commonsense leadership and fiscal conservatism around one candidate, and it is clear my candidacy has the best chance to defeat the likes of Gina Ortiz Jones, John Courage or Manny Pelaez and prevent any of these misguided candidates from assuming the Mayor’s office and turning San Antonio further into a city like San Francisco, with policies focused on virtue signaling that betray our taxpayers, businesses, and communities.

Join me, Clayton, and let’s ensure we can enact real change at city hall and get San Antonio back on track.”
