As a rapidly growing city, our streets and freeways are becoming choked, and it is only made worse with continuous road construction going on throughout the city. Beyond the frustration and inconvenience for us motorists, it’s also a major disruption for many small businesses.

To get a handle on these issues, we first have to rein in the bureaucracy that causes unnecessary delays in the starting and completion of road construction projects. We also need to intently research and move toward a mass transit system that works for San Antonians. Housing is also a factor in traffic alleviation – having more housing options closer to large employers and workplaces would ease traffic without forcing employees to traverse the city to get to and from work. Addressing these concerns and advancing real, sustainable solutions will be a high priority during my service as Mayor of San Antonio.

And with regard to construction, we need to offer incentives for construction companies to complete projects on time or ahead of schedule. Additionally, the city needs to ensure better communication with businesses that will be impacted by road construction projects and do what is needed to provide the support they need to help ensure normal business operations can continue uninterrupted.
